Wild sign six Penticton players prior to camp

The Okanagan Wild have filled six of its roster spots with Penticton players.

The Okanagan Wild lacrosse team has filled six of its first 25 roster spots with Penticton players.

The Wild have signed goalie Connor Ramage, Beau Chetner, Ben Olsen, Nash Moog, Freddy Harbinson and Kale Lawrence for the 2017 season in the B.C. Intermediate Lacrosse League. Each developed in the Penticton Minor Lacrosse Association.

鈥泪 felt honoured to be selected as the 奥颈濒诲蝉鈥 goalie and knowing that I have the opportunity to help the team to succeed this 蝉别补蝉辞苍,鈥 said Ramage, on being among the first signed players, in a press release. 鈥泪t is a great feeling and I 肠补苍鈥檛 wait to kick off the 2017 season with the 产辞测蝉.鈥

鈥泪t is both exciting and fitting that the first players signed to the OK Wild are from 笔别苍迟颈肠迟辞苍,鈥 said Wild coach Dan Chetner. 鈥淭丑别 Penticton Minor Lacrosse Association produced these A1 calibre players in this age group. Penticton is the only area across the Thompson/Okanagan where players compete at the top level of minor lacrosse provincially. Their experience will serve the Wild well as they enter their inaugural season in the BC Intermediate A Lacrosse 尝别补驳耻别.鈥

The 奥颈濒诲鈥檚 roster will feature elite interior athletes aged 16 to 18 to compete against 叠颁鈥檚 best. The Wild will compete against a variety of Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island teams with the season set to open in April.

鈥淭丑别se Penticton players have had experience playing this type of high-level lacrosse for years. They are all hungry to succeed and take great pride in representing this team and the entire Okanagan in our inaugural 蝉别补蝉辞苍,鈥 said Wild general manager Martin Gardner. 鈥淲别 feel excited for our team and our organization to have these great kids officially on board. Their character, passion and love for the game perfectly aligns with our clubs purpose for playing and the goals we want to accomplish in Year 辞苍别.鈥

Try-outs for the Wild are scheduled for Feb. 19 at Hassen Arena in Armstrong from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
