Vernon plants greener future with Earth Day tree vouchers

In recognition of Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22, the city of Vernon is hoping a program to encourage residents to grow their own trees will take root.

Vernon residents can pick up a $75 tree voucher to use towards the purchase of a tree (or trees) at one of three local garden centres: Nicholas Alexander Home and Garden, Swan Lake Market and Garden or The Flower Spot. 

鈥淭his program is a simple, but impactful way for our community to take part in local climate action and enhance our urban tree canopy,鈥 said city's specialist for climate action, Kevin McCarty. 鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to launch it on Earth Day and encourage residents to help plant a more vibrant future for our community.鈥

Vouchers can be picked up in person at the Community Services Building, 3001 32nd Ave. They are available to residents and limited to one per property. 

Additionally, residents can visit the City of Vernon booths at the Chamber Expo on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kal Tire Place North.
