Ballet 麻豆精选 is closing out the 2024/25 season with Vividus, meaning full of life.
The triple bill feature鈥檚 Rite of Spring, a recreation of the 1913 piece by the company鈥檚 CEO and Artistic Director Simone Orlando.
The piece follows a collective looking to overthrow an autocratic leader.
"When I created the work in 2019, there had been a major shift in the government in the U.S.," Orlando said. "I'd been concerned about the divisive nature of politics, so this piece was an exploration of what we were seeing happening in our modern world. Coming back to the work now in 2025 it's even a little bit more amplified."
Orlando added that the work includes the original music used in 1913, Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring.
The other works are Lesley Telford鈥檚 An Instant and the world premier of Le Carnaval des Animaux by Guillaume C么t茅.
Catch the performances May 2 and 3 at the 麻豆精选 Community Theatre. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office. Curtain call is 7:30 p.m.
