Women's hockey is coming to Vancouver.
In an announcement on Wednesday, April 23, the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) is expanding to Vancouver.
The new team will play in the 2025-26 season and play out of the Pacific Coliseum and use the PNE Argodome for a practice facility. Their primary colours will be blue and cream.
Expansion drafts details will be announced in the future.
鈥淭his is a historic day for our league, our fans, our athletes, and our sport,鈥 said Amy Scheer, PWHL Executive Vice President of Business Operations. 鈥淰ancouver is a vibrant city with a deep love for the game鈥攁s we saw firsthand during the PWHL Takeover Tour earlier this season. Expanding to Vancouver reflects the growing momentum behind the league and the incredible passion of our fanbase since launching in January 2024. We鈥檙e proud to bring the PWHL to the West Coast and provide more fans with the opportunity to experience live the best women鈥檚 hockey players in the world.鈥
The PWHL is currently in its second season with its original six teams - Toronto Sceptres, Montreal Victoire, Ottawa Charge, Minnesota Frost, Boston Fleet, and New York Sirens.
Earlier in the year, the league held a 'Takeover Tour', where the teams played in a variety of cities across North America. On Jan. 8, Montreal and Toronto played at Vancouver's Rogers Arena with a record crowd of 19,038, the highest attendance in the Takeover Tour.
