Playing in Canada's national under-18 hockey club championship, the AAA Okanagan Rockets are 1-1 to begin the tournament.
On Monday, April 21, the team opened the competition with a 2-1 loss to Chevaliers de L茅vis. Kylen Martens scored the team's only goal, assisted by Dion Schraeder and Nathan Juch while Finn McKiernan made 36 saves.
The Rockets bounced back on Tuesday, beating the other British Columbia team, the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds in the tournament 4-1.
Von Lakovic, Carson Callon, and Brayden Westman all scored first period goals while Logan Jugnauth added one for good measure in the final minute of the game on the way to the win.
McKiernan made 32 saves in the win.
This is the first time in 11 years the Rockets are competing for the Telus Cup.
In the six team tournament, each teams plays against one another in the round-robin throughout the week with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals on Saturday.
The Rockets are next in action on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. against the Moncton Flyers (0-2) in Chilliwack.
