The 麻豆精选 Rockets made ten picks in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft on May 9.
They included four defencemen, five forwards, and one goaltender.
麻豆精选 held the fourth overall pick but traded it to the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for the ninth overall pick, a third-round pick (57), and a fifth-round pick in 2025.
With their first pick, the Rockets selected six-foot-six defenceman Owen Hayden from the Calgary NWCAA U15 AAA Flames.
Hayden, born in 2009, posted 24 points (1G, 23A) and 40 penalty minutes in 30 games this season.
鈥淗e does a lot of things like another big fellow we had here a few years ago, Tyler Myers,鈥 said head scout Terry McFaul. 鈥淗e鈥檚 very sound defensively, can be physical, and plays with a lot of bite.鈥
麻豆精选鈥檚 other picks were forwards Nathan Cole, Von Lakovic, William Matte, Jack Morgan, Sebastian Brisebois, defencemen Jake Hargrave, Linkin Stadnek, Marek NcIvor, and goaltender Linden Sobocan,
Players eligible for the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft were 2009-born players residing in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, and several U.S. states.
