16 arrested, 175g of drugs taken off 麻豆精选 streets in RCMP project

The project took place downtown on April 22 and 23

The 麻豆精选 RCMP Crime Reduction Unit's (CRU) second special project of the week was another successful one.

Over the course of two days (April 22-23), the CRU targeted drug trafficking in the downtown core. In total, officers arrested 16 individuals for drug-related offences, including one who had a B.C.-wide warrant.

Additionally, officers seized:

  • One vehicle impounded,
  • Approximately 175 grams of illicit drugs,
  • Seven cartons of illicit cigarettes,
  • 25 pills,
  • Approximately $2500 Canadian currency.

鈥淚鈥檓 very pleased with the success of this enforcement operation,鈥 said Sgt. Scott Powrie of the CRU. 鈥淲e continue to hear the concerns of downtown residents and businesses, and we remain committed in taking meaningful action to address those issues.  Just as we saw in Rutland the week prior, our efforts not only resulted in tangible outcomes but also helped us gather information that will support future enforcement actions.鈥

This special project conducted by the CRU is the second a three-day span as officers arrested seven people as well as seized drugs and weapons at a residence near Highway 33 and Dougall Road on Monday, April 21.

Anyone who witnesses or is a victim of a crime is recommended to report it to the 麻豆精选 RCMP. For non-emergencies, call the RCMP at 250-762-3300, attend the detachment, or report online at https://ocre-sielc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/kelowna/en.
