The majority of Lake Country is under a boil water notice as the district is replacing a water main line valve.
鈥淭his notice will remain in effect until laboratory testing confirms no risks to public health are present and results have been reviewed by the Interior Health Authority,鈥 said the District of Lake Country in a release. 鈥淚t is recommended that households in the affected area ensure water is available for personal use during the outage.鈥
It is also recommended that all affected customers boil water before using it or use a safe alternative.
鈥淲ater intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute,鈥 adds the District of Lake Country. 鈥淏oiled water should then be refrigerated in a clean, covered container. Customers could also choose to use bottled or distilled water, or water that has been filtered through a well-maintained treatment device.鈥
The notice is a precaution to all customers on the distribution system for the Beaver Lake water source.
Water is expected to be back to normal around 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.
