Due to ongoing dry weather conditions, and a forecast indicating rising temperatures, the Regional District Central Okanagan (RDCO) has escalated the fire danger in regional parks to level four, indicating a high risk.
The RDCO urges visitors to exercise caution and adhere to fire prevention and safety guidelines.
Smoking, vaping, and open flames are prohibited within regional and community parks. Propane-fueled BBQs are permitted, provided they are away from potentially flammable materials.
Violations carry fines ranging from $250 to $1,000.
Should you encounter a fire within any park, call 9-1-1 to report it.
Fire warning sandwich boards are circulated throughout the regional park system as a reminder the heightened hazard and ban on smoking and open fires.
