麻豆精选 Mayor Tom Dyas proclaims Feb. 13 at Wear Red Day for women's heart health on Jan. 31, 2025.

麻豆精选 Mayor Tom Dyas met with members of the Canadian Women鈥檚 Heart Health Alliance at city hall to proclaim Feb. 13, as Wear Red Canada Day to raise awareness about heart health.

"While heart disease is on the decline among men, it is rising among women," states the Canadian Women鈥檚 Heart Health Alliance.

Heart disease is currently the leading cause of premature death among women in Canada. The Wear Red Canada campaign aims to address the disparities in the recognition, diagnosis, and care of heart disease in women compared to men.

On Friday, Jan. 31, Mayor Dyas officially acknowledged the national Wear Red Day initiative and announced 麻豆精选's participation in the campaign.

"The proclamation underscores 麻豆精选鈥檚 role in this critical national effort and acknowledges the local advocates who have brought this initiative to our city," said Venessa Thorsen, a member of the Canadian Women鈥檚 Heart Health Alliance.

麻豆精选 is now united with communities across Canada to shine a spotlight on the need for greater equity in cardiovascular research and care.

The Wear Red Canada initiative encourages all people to wear red on Feb. 13, with the goal of sparking conversations about heart health.
