Lime鈥檚 e-scooters and e-bikes are back on the road in 麻豆精选.
The program started on Mar. 5 with 鈥渋mproved parking rules for riders downtown and a renewed commitment to re-balancing and maintaining scooters early in the mornings,鈥 Lime said in a release.
According to Lime, 78,000 riders took over 555,000 trips on Lime e-bikes and e-scooters in 2023. That is a 190 per cent increase in rides, and a 67 per cent increase in riders compared to 2022.
Despite that, the company is continuing to make tweaks to keep improving the experience for local residents and visitors.
鈥淟ime is proud to have worked with 麻豆精选 for years to develop a robust, safe, environmentally friendly shared electric vehicle program, and we see 2024 as an opportunity to improve our service to the city even more,鈥 said director of government relations Sonia Kandola. 鈥Since launching in 2021, we鈥檝e consistently valued feedback from the community. What we鈥檙e hearing is that 麻豆精选 loves [to have the option available to them] and sustainability provided by shared e-scooters and e-bikes but the program should double down on proper parking, safe riding, and street tidiness. So this year Lime will aim to support a continued ridership boom while ensuring riders are riding responsibly, parking properly, and keeping 麻豆精选鈥檚 beautiful streets free of clutter, especially downtown.鈥
This year, Lime is adding mandatory parking zones in 麻豆精选鈥檚 downtown core to help reduce clutter and make it easier to find bikes and scooters. The company is also adding staff in town, who will maintain and re-balance the bikes and scooters in the early mornings.
Additionally, UBCO students will continue to be offered a 10 per cent discount.
Since Lime鈥檚 launch in April 2021, more than 160,000 riders have taken over 950,000 rides in 麻豆精选, traveling nearly 1.9 million kilometres. That has kept an estimated 233,000 car trips off the road and has prevented an estimated 100 metric tons of carbon emissions, saving an estimated 42,000 litres of fuel.
