West 麻豆精选 council is likely to have its first meetings in a new city hall in May.

The exact dates depend on occupancy requirements.

鈥淚f we encounter challenges in this next phase of the move we want to make sure we haven鈥檛 committed to something that we have to back up on,鈥 said Trevor Seibel, deputy CAO.

Tentative meeting dates are:

  • May 14 - time and location to be confirmed by May 10
  • May 21 - time and location to be confirmed by May 17
  • May 28 - time and location to be confirmed by May 24

Director of Corporate Initiatives, Sandy Webster, said a public information campaign will focus on the start of service in the new building.

鈥淭here鈥檚 lots of changes going on. There will be staff moving in waves. There will be some satellite offices closing.鈥

The existing city hall in the Mount Boucherie complex will remain open.

鈥淭here鈥檚 no changes to frontline services, everything remains the same,鈥 Webster added.

Along with the city, five other organizations are moving into the building.

They are the Okanagan Regional Library, offices of the provincial MLA and federal MP, Services BC, and ICBC.

However, Webster said Services BC and ICBC will not be moving into the building in May, but at a later date.

The project is over budget, has seen months-long delays, and the city is named in a civil claim over the new building.
