The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) wants to hear from residents about its draft 2025-2029 Financial Plan.
鈥淭he draft plan focuses on delivering essential services, advancing the regional board鈥檚 priorities, and meeting regulatory requirements,鈥� said Tania McCabe, director of financial services. 鈥淚t addresses emergency preparedness, environmental stewardship, and opportunities to improve community health and wellness, all while managing growth and inflation.鈥�
The proposed budget includes a $4 million boost to the RDCO鈥檚 operating costs, bringing it up to $69.6 million. That鈥檚 a six per cent increase from last year鈥檚 $65.6 million. But unlike municipalities, RDCO doesn鈥檛 have a single tax rate, so the impact on your taxes will depend on where you live, the services you get, and your property鈥檚 value.
For the first time, RDCO residents in Electoral Area East and Electoral Area West can use a new property tax estimator tool. Available online starting Jan. 17, the tool will allow property owners to estimate their property taxes.
The draft financial plan will be presented to the regional board on Jan. 16. Residents can attend the meeting in person at 1450 KLO Road, watch the livestream, or view a recording online. Further discussions are scheduled for Jan. 30 and Feb. 20, with final adoption of the plan set for March 20.
Feedback can be provided until Feb. 6 through the RDCO website. Comments can also be submitted by email at finance@rdco.com , by mail to 1450 KLO Road, or in person at the Jan. 30 meeting.
When providing comments, residents are asked to include their civic address to help RDCO identify how the plan may impact their area.
