A rural property in Spallumcheen is under RCMP investigation, with police blocking off access to a driveway.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into a suspected clandestine lab.
RCMP continued to cordon off a driveway on Reservoir Road as of 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb 20. The driveway had a township-issued "stop work notice" sign posted at the property. A "do not occupy" sign could also be seen beyond where police would let Black Press Media go.
The investigation started earlier in the week when officers attended a property on Reservoir Road, and observed materials that suggested the possible presence of a drug lab.
A search warrant was obtained and executed, leading to the discovery of more evidence consistent with the production of drugs.
It鈥檚 expected there will be a continued police presence at the property for several more days,
said Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
At this time, there is no immediate risk to the safety of the public. The RCMP Federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response Team (Federal CLEAR Team) is deployed and is assisting in assessing and safely processing the scene.
Social media was buzzing Wednesday, Feb. 19, over a large police presence near the City of Armstrong.
There is no additional information for release at this time and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Armstrong office of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 546-3028.
