A 麻豆精选 man remains in custody after he was caught occupying a vehicle stolen out of Vernon in July.
On Dec. 18, 麻豆精选 RCMP's Proactive Enforcement Unit located the stolen vehicle in downtown 麻豆精选. With the assistance of Police Dog Services, officers located the male driver in the 900 block of Laurie Avenue.
The 36-year-old man had multiple outstanding warrants. Through the investigation police also seized a substantial amount of drugs and a loaded handgun.
鈥淭he loaded firearm is a stark reminder of the dangers all of our officers can face at any given moment,鈥� said Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay with the Proactive Enforcement Unit. 鈥淚n this particular case, no one was injured, we recovered a stolen vehicle, and we removed potentially toxic drugs and a firearm from our streets."
The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8.
