Rutland Senior Secondary will host a series of public health nurse wellness clinics for Grade 10-12 students in the coming months.

The clinics will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the following Fridays: Feb. 7 and 21, March 7, April 4, May 2,16 and 30; and June 13.

The Interior Health initiative will make available public health nurses to answer questions from students about public health nursing services, such as health and wellness promotion/disease prevention information, and access to health care resources.

It also offers an opportunity for senior high students to assess their immunization history and ensure they have all the necessary vaccinations before they graduate, noting that some post-secondary training programs require immunization history prior to starting the program.

The wellness clinics also evolved out of the 2023 McCreary Adolescent Survey, which indicates some growing concerns from students regarding a variety of health-related topics.

Neither COVID-19 nor influenza vaccines will be offered or provided at these clinics.
