Pope Francis has dies at the age of 88, the Vatican announced Monday. From the Vatican, Cardinal Kevin Farrell said the Bishop of Rome died at 7:55 a.m. local time.

Pope Francis has dies at the age of 88, the Vatican announced Monday.

From the Vatican, Cardinal Kevin Farrell said the Bishop of Rome died at 7:55 a.m. local time.

Pope Francis was the first Latin American and first Jesuit to lead the Roman Catholic Church.

He visited Canada from July 24 to 29, 2022, with stops in the provinces of Alberta and Quebec and the territory of Nunavut.
