RCMP arrested two suspects on Lyman Hill (70th Avenue NE) in Canoe after a shooting that took place in Sicamous on Sunday, April 6.

Two suspects are in custody following a reported shooting at a condominium complex in Sicamous Sunday night.

In a media release, RCMP Sgt. Murray McNeil said that at 4 p.m. on April 6, officers responded to a report of shots fired near a condo in the 300 block of Mara Lane.

On scene, police spoke with witnesses who described suspects leaving in a white SUV prior to officers arriving.

"Police determined the intended target of the shooting was a Sicamous man who is known to police," McNeil said, adding the man had left the scene in another vehicle. "Police located the man unharmed, however, his truck, which was found to have multiple bullet holes, was seized as part of the investigation."

A description of the suspect vehicle was sent to neighbouring detachments, after which Salmon Arm RCMP attempted a traffic stop of a westbound white SUV approaching Canoe from the east that failed to stop for police. The vehicle was found abandoned near Highway 1 in Canoe, with RCMP dog services and the Emergency Response Team searching the  area for the two suspects.

"RCMP arrested both suspects in a residential area of Canoe after successful dog tracks," McNeil said. "Both suspects who remain in custody are known to RCMP in the Province of Alberta."

He added that while a shooting in a residential area midday is alarming, this was "an isolated targeted incident with both suspects in police custody."

Police are continuing to investigate the matter.
