Baldy Mountain said that Saturday, a group of teens traveled out of bounds on the top corner of our Jolly Jack run. This caused them to head a considerable distance away from the resort and resulted in a call to Search and Rescue.

Three skiers who went missing in the Mount Baldy area on Saturday were all found injured thanks to the help of search and rescue.

According to Baldy Mountain Resort, a group of teens travelled out of bounds on the top corner of our Jolly Jack run, a considerable distance away from the resort.

Oliver/Osoyoos Search and Rescue was called out at about 5 p.m. Feb. 15, to assist in finding the three missing skiers.

According to SAR, cell phone contact was established with the group and their location was confirmed along with the fact that all of the individuals were unharmed.

Due to the route and several safety precautions that needed to be taken, SAR finally made physical contact with the skiers at about 10 p.m.

鈥淭he three missing individuals did the right thing and stayed in one location when they realized they were lost. After talking with SAR the group started working their way back to the ski area. They conserved cell phone batteries so that we could keep in contact with them, they were also fortunate to be in an area that had cell service,鈥 said Oliver/ Osoyoos SAR.

Penticton Search and Rescue was also called to assist but in the end was not needed.

SAR reminds those venturing out into the backcountry to follow the 3 T鈥檚, 鈥淭ake the essentials with you, leave a Trip plan, and make sure that you have the appropriate Training.鈥
