BC Wildfire Service helps fight blaze south of Keremeos

The cause of the blaze is under investigation: BC Wildfire Service

The Lower Similkameen Indian Band (LSIB) has called BC Wildfire Service for help in fighting an "out-of-control" blaze south of Keremeos near Highway 3.

Due to gusty winds and warm temperatures, the LSIB says it requested assistance from the provincial team to attack the Lower Susap Creek wildfire on Saturday (April 26).

The band has been monitoring the fire since April 21. It is currently 0.6 hectares in size and located west of Highway 3 in the Louisville area.

BCWS said the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

"There remains no danger to residences, personnel, or roads," the LSIB said in a social media post.

"LSIB feels the prudent action is to make sure this fire will stay contained and not to further alarm our community, and any neighbouring communities."
