Anyone looking for a scenic spot to set up their camper van this spring or summer between Nakusp and Revelstoke is in for a treat, with a new RV park now taking reservations.
Halcyon Heights, a recreational vehicle campground about a kilometre away from Halcyon Hot Springs on the east side of Highway 23, and has availability starting May 15.
Along with 22 RV sites and free Wi-Fi, the campground offers its Lakeview cabin and suite for visitors without a bed to sleep on, and subject to weather could remain open until as late as end of October. It lies about an hour's drive from Revelstoke, and 25 minutes from Nakusp.
Other amenities at Halcyon Heights include rinse water taps, 20-50-amp power hook-ups, washrooms and showers, sanitary dump stations, garbage disposal, and for-purchase items such as drinking water, ice and firewood available at the camp store.
Property manager Jennifer Klassen, who alongside her husband Kelvin, was approached last fall about the idea of an RV park. The duo are excited to welcome motorized campers to the area, especially as an RV user herself.
"Our camp overlooks the lake and the mountains," she remarked, adding that Halcyon Heights opened for reservations on April 15, and has already attracted a couple of bookings.
Same-day bookings are allowed, Klassen said, and prospective campers should consult Halcyon Heights' cancellation policy online. Site bookings start at $50.
