Highway 97 road work underway near Penticton, Summerland

Crews working at three locations along highway

Crews are working on three sections of Highway 97 in the South Okanagan.

Just south of Penticton, between Sandhill Road and Pineview Drive, crews are continuing some ongoing highway extension work.

Crews are constructing a new intersection and installing new traffic lights.

The shoulder is closed and industrial traffic may be slow or block regular traffic, DriveBC says.

In Summerland, electrical maintenance work between Johnson Street and Jones Flat Road — a 6.3-kilometre stretch of highway — is affecting traffic.

Lane closures are in effect on weekdays from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. until May 2.

DriveBC advises motorists to watch for traffic control in the area.

North of Summerland, maintenance work is underway between North Beach Road and Brent Road. The area affected is from two kilometres south of Peachland to five kilometres north of Summerland.

Lane closures are in effect and the left turn lane is closed along this portion of the highway.

This work is expected to continue until May 2.
