Sicamous RCMP responded after two vehicles hit the ditch in winter conditions that created slippery sections on Highway 97A.

Sicamous RCMP responded to two unrelated incidents in which "winter conditions" saw drivers hit the ditch.

On Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. officers responded to a rock faced section of Highway 97A, north of Swansea Point, where they found two northbound vehicles had lost control in the same location and gone off the road into a ditch.

"A rented Dodge Durango and a Chrysler PT Cruiser had slid into the ditch during winter conditions with some slippery sections present on the highway," Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a media release.

There were no issues to anyone in either vehicle, and traffic was not interrupted as both vehicles were off the road and "police arranged for the tow trucks to remove the vehicles after 3 p.m. when Hwy. 1 was once again opened."
