A shop was destroyed in a fire in Spallumcheen that spread to the home Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Two structure fires broke out in a single day in Spallumcheen.

After keeping a barn blaze contained that was narrowly close to another large barn, firefighters battled a workshop fire just hours later.

Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department was called to Creamery Road around 12 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4.

A workshop caught fire and extended into the home, but the owners were able to get themselves out in time.

鈥淭he shop is a total loss, the house has smoke and water damage and some fire damage to one area," said fire chief Rob Brown.

A cause of the blaze has not yet been determined but Brown cautions residents during the winter to be careful with heat sources.
