The Vancouver Canucks have been officially eliminated from the 2024-25 NHL Stanley Cup playoff chase.
On Tuesday, the Canucks staged a miraculous comeback, scoring three times in the last minute of regulation and then beating the Dallas Stars 6-5 in overtime to stave off elimination.
But Wednesday night, the Minnesota Wild beat the San Jose Sharks 8-7, meaning any mathematical chance the Canucks had of qualifying for the post-season was extinguished.

The Canucks (36-29-13) have 85 points with four games left in their regulation season. Minnesota’s win leaves them with 93 points, tied with the St. Louis Blues as the teams currently sit in the two Western Conference wildcards spots. Both teams hold tie-breakers over the Canucks, who could only max out at 93 points.
Last season, the Canucks won the Pacific Division with 50 wins and 109 points.
The playoffs are set to begin April 19. The 2025 NHL entry draft is set for June 27 and June 28 in Los Angeles.
