The Gojsic brothers are getting their chance to hit the ice together in 麻豆精选.
On Wednesday afternoon, the 麻豆精选 Rockets announced they had acquired the rights to 2006-born forward Hiroki Gojsic from the Victoria Royals, and immediately signed him to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. In the deal, the Rockets traded a second-round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft and a fifth-round pick in the 2027 WHL Prospects Draft.
This move comes just one day after the Rockets signed Hiroki鈥檚 younger brother, Kanjyu, to his WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, reuniting the brothers in 麻豆精选.
The Rockets picked Kanjyu in the third round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
The newly-acquired Hiroki, who was drafted in the second round by Victoria in 2021, played in 36 games for the BCHL champion Penticton Vees last season, posting 10 goals and 11 assists as a 16-year-old rookie.
鈥淚鈥檓 really excited to play for the Rockets,鈥� said Hiroki, who stands at six-foot-three, 187 pounds. 鈥淲e鈥檙e going to have a good team going into the future and I鈥檓 just glad to be a part of it.鈥�
Hiroki also attended Hockey Canada鈥檚 U17 Development Camp last summer with Lake Country native and current Seattle Thunderbirds forward Tij Iginla.
鈥淲e鈥檙e very excited to be able to acquire a player of Hiroki鈥檚 caliber,鈥� said Rockets President and General Manager Bruce Hamilton. 鈥淲e鈥檝e been working on this for a little while, we think that he鈥檚 an elite player that will bring something to our team that we don鈥檛 have right now. He鈥檚 got size and skill, he鈥檚 going to play with our best players.鈥�
When they play together for the Rockets for the first time, they will be the fifth set of brothers in team history to play together.
