KSS Owls girls show promise on hardwood

Rachel Hare and the 麻豆精选 Owls senior girls basketball team are in Langley this weekend for the Tsumura Invitational tournament.

The 麻豆精选 Owls are putting their game to an early season test this weekend against the 辫谤辞惫颈苍肠别鈥檚 best senior girls basketball programs.

KSS, ranked fifth in the province in AAA, is one of 16 teams competing in the Tsumura Basketball Invitational at the Langley Events Centre.

The Owls played their opening game Thursday night against the Argyle Pipers.

Heading into the tourney, the 翱飞濒蝉鈥攃辞补肠丑别诲 this year by Darren Semeniuk and assistant Heather 厂别尘别苍颈耻办鈥攚别谤别 5-2 this season, including a perfect 3-0 in league play.

Courtney Donaldson and Alley Corrado will be among six seniors who will counted on to lead the Owls this season.

Donaldson has committed to the University of Calgary next season, while Corrado and fellow senior Madison Dickie have both signed with Thompson Rivers University.

Kennedy Dickie, who is only in Grade 10, will also be key a player for KSS this season.

The 15-year-old Dickie, who is on Basketball 颁补苍补诲补鈥檚 radar, is in Edmonton this week for the national 辫谤辞驳谤补尘鈥檚 high-performance assessment camp.

In addition to having plenty of talent and skill on the roster, Heather Semeniuk said the 翱飞濒蝉鈥 passion for the game is what stands out.

鈥淭丑别测 just love to play the game, you can see it every time 迟丑别测鈥檙别 out on the 肠辞耻谤迟,鈥 said Semeniuk. 鈥淭丑别测鈥檙e a really nice group of girls to work 飞颈迟丑.鈥
