Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Rockets

Winners of four of their last six games, the Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Rockets continue their long eight-game road trip in the Prairies this weekend.

It’s a one-game weekend for the Rockets, who take on the Regina Pats at the Brandt Centre on Saturday night.

Going into the weekend, the Rockets are seventh in the Western Conference with an 11-14-2-0 record. Meanwhile, the Pats are 10th in the East but have the same amount of points as the Rockets with an 11-15-1-1 record.

This is the Rockets first trip to the Prairies since the 2019-20 season.

It is also expected that Rockets 15-year-old prospect Owen Folstrom will make his WHL debut. He has 14 points (11 goals, three assists) and six penalty minutes in 15 games for the Calgary Flames U18AAA of the AEHL this season.

Saturday’s puck drop is at 5 p.m. Pacific time.

West Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Warriors

Riding a five-game winning streak, the West Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Warriors have two important games on this weekend’s schedules.

As the Warriors welcome the Trail Smoke Eaters to Royal LePage Place on Saturday night (Dec. 9), it’s teddy bear toss night. Fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal and throw it onto the ice when the Warriors score their first goal of the game. This year, all the furry friends will be donated to Salvation Army Toy Mountain and the Stuffies for Seniors program. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

Sunday afternoon’s contest against the Vernon Vipers is Brendan Ritchie Day. Ritchie has been fighting Pulmonary Hypertension for 11 years now and, during that time, has touched the lives of many Warriors players, staff and fans through his fight.

Hope4Brendan rubber wristbands will be available by donation and all proceeds will go to the Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. Fans are also invited to bring their skates and helmets and skate with the Warriors after the game. Puck drop is at 2:30 p.m.

Going into the weekend, the Warriors are third in the BCHL’s Interior Conference with a record of 15-6-2-0.

Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Chiefs

Â鶹¾«Ñ¡â€™s junior A club is at home all weekend long as they welcome the Grand Forks Bruins and the Sicamous Eagles to town.

The Chiefs, who sit second in their division despite their 8-15-2-0 record, will be in tough this weekend as they take on two division leaders.

On Friday night (Dec. 8) they take on Grand Forks, who are 15-8-1-2 on the year, currently first in the Neil Murdoch Division.

And it doesn’t get easier on Saturday night as Sicamous is first in the Doug Birks Division with a 20-4-1-0 record.

Both games are at Rutland Arena with puck drop at 7 p.m.
