Runners lace up for annual Shuswap cross-country event

Event part of Interior Running Association Cross-Country Race Series

Vibrant fall colours provided a sunlit backdrop for the Reino Run cross-country running race held Sunday at Larch Hills.

The family friendly run got underway from the Larch Hills chalet at 10 a.m. on Oct. 15, with participants competing 2.5 and 8.5 kilometre distances.

Overall results for the 8.5-km event saw Coldstream鈥檚 Andrew Casey achieve the shortest time at 32:50.7, followed by Vernon鈥檚 Jeff Kwantes (33:58.8), 麻豆精选鈥檚 Trevor Haaheim (34:24.7), Liam McGrath of Kamloops (34.41.3) and Salmon Arm鈥檚 Kayden Sim (35:03.2). In the 2.5-km event, Salmon Arm runners took the top five, with Lukas Steiner in first place (11:26.6), followed by Kyle Sexsmith (12:00.6), Dylan Hamilton (12:13.6), Kai Thingstead (12:28.6) and Henry Bollans (12:29.6).

Hosted by the Larch Hills Nordics, the Reino Run was part of the Interior Running Association Cross-Country Race Series. All proceeds from the event went to the Larch Hills Junior Racing Team.
