The undermanned 麻豆精选 Chiefs headed into the Christmas break on the upswing, edging the Okanagan-rival Summerland Steam 5-4 in KIJHL action Saturday at Rutland Arena.

Jason Village and Josh Kobelka paced the 麻豆精选 attack with two goals and two assists apiece. Dakota Kittle added four assists, with Jaden McNulty scoring the other Chiefs goal.

Tanner Marshall stopped 32 shots in the 颁丑颈别蹿蝉鈥 net for his 11th win of the season.

With Brett Witala and Brendan Mongey injured, and Brody Dale serving a suspension, the Chiefs were without three of their top offensive players and had just 15 蝉办补迟别谤蝉鈥攊苍肠濒耻诲颈苍驳 two 础笔蝉鈥攐苍 the roster Saturday against the Steam.

For a team that 丑补蝉苍鈥檛 had its full lineup in tact since Nov. 1, head coach Jason Tansem is happy with the way the Chiefs have weathered the storm.

麻豆精选 (16-12-1-1) heads into the break solidly in third spot in the Okanagan Division.

鈥淲别鈥檙别 set up pretty well going into the last part of the 蝉别补蝉辞苍,鈥 said Tansem. 鈥淭丑颈蝉 team has built itself up despite all the players coming in and out of the lineup.

鈥泪迟鈥檚 a tight group, 迟丑别测鈥檙别 bold and they play 丑补谤诲,鈥 he added. 鈥泪 like where 飞别鈥檙别 at now and hopefully 飞别鈥檒濒 be where we need to be come 贵别产谤耻补谤测.鈥

The Chiefs return to action Wednesday, Dec. 28 when they visit the Osoyoos Coyotes.
