Vernon skip Tyler Orme was eliminated from the 2023 Everest Canadian Curling Club Championship in Winnipeg after a loss to Quebec on Friday.
Team B.C., made up of Vernon Curling Club members Orme, third Trevor Perepolkin and the front end of second Rob Nobert and lead Jamie Austin, were defeated by Quebec鈥檚 team of Raphael Charbonneau (lead), Michael Charbonneau (second), Kevin Bleu (third) and David Maheux (fourth) by a score of 11-3 Nov. 24.
The team from Vernon went 4-2 in the round robin, tied for top spot in Pool B with Saskatchewan鈥檚 Mitch Criton of Regina, and Derek Anderson of Gimli, Man. The B.C. team won its opening playoff game against Shea Steele of Halifax 11-8.
Quebec jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first two ends, and then tacked on another three points in the fifth end and four in the second.
On Saturday, Alberta defeated Saskatchewan 7-2 to earn the gold medal, while Quebec went on to beat Nova Scotia 7-5 for the bronze.
