The West 麻豆精选 Warriors got off to slow start Wednesday night against the Surrey Eagles, but used a strong third period to notch a 7-3 win over the South Surrey Eagles.
Under new coach Brandon West, the Warriors and Eagles were tied 1-1 after the first period.
The South Surrey Arena is Olympic sized hockey ice, something the Warriors aren鈥檛 used to. They spent the first period adjusting before starting the second period with an offensive surge during the second to take the lead by the end of the frame 2-1. The Warriors top players were attacking at full force, but Eagles goalie, Cayden Bailey turned 14 shots in the period.

Mike Hardman opened the lead up further for the Warriors in the third, scoring his 31st and 32 goals of the season. The Warriors took over from there, as they speed out to a 5-1 lead. The Eagles pushed back to get within two halfway through the third period, but Warriors Bennet Norlin and Parm Dhaliwal notched a goal each to give the Warriors a 7-3 victory.
The Warriors season is quickly coming to a close. With only 10 games left, the Warriors aim to finish strong to ensure the best possible playoff position berth.
The Warriors stay on the road for their next game Friday in Salmon Arm. They then return to home ice Feb. 2 to host Salmon Arm.
