A former teammate rippled his previous team as they Brandon Wheat Kings beat the Rockets 7-3 on Tuesday night.
As the puck dropped at Prospera Place on Jan. 21, it turned into the Nolan Flamand show as the former Rocket scored twice and added two assists, leading the Wheat Kings to their 21st win of the season.
Flamand opened the scoring just 3:55 into the contest and Brandon held that lead going into the intermission.
In the second period, Brandon doubled their lead when Luke Shipley found the back of the net just 2:40 into the period.
Just under four minutes later, the Rockets got on the board when Hayden Paupanekis scored his first goal as a Rocket. The goal was his 13th of the season, assisted by Carter Kowalyk and Jacob Henderson.
But in the second half of the period, the game flipped as the Rockets got into penalty trouble and the Wheat Kings responded, scoring four goals (three of them on the powerplay) in 6:35 to make it 6-1.
Shipley scored his second of the game in the third to make it 7-1.
In the final five minutes, 麻豆精选 got goals from Dawson Gerwing (8) and Jakub Stancl (17) to make it 7-3.
For the second straight game, goaltender Rhett Stoesser got peppered as he faced 55 shots, stopping 48 of them in the loss.
With the loss, the Rockets remain eighth in the Western Conference with a record of 16-21-3-1. They're back in action on Friday, Jan. 24 when they take on the Kamloops Blazers in the Tournament Capital. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at the Sandman Centre.
