After a weekend victory, the Vernon Iron Ghost Construction Tigers lacrosse team is looking towards the postseason.
The Tigers clinched a playoff spot on Saturday, June 17 with a 13-7 win over the visiting 麻豆精选 Kodiaks.
The home team was paced by a nine point explosion from Caden Peters. Kian Yargeau also chipped in with a hat trick and an assist.
That victory secured second place in the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League (TOJLL) standings, with a 7-6 record. The Kamloops Venom, undefeated at 13-0, are first. Those two teams meet for their final regular season match on Sunday, June 25 at the Kamloops Memorial Arena.
Vernon will be playing the South Okanagan Flames in the best-of-three first round playoffs. Game one is set for Saturday, July 8 from Kal Tire Place. The Tigers won the first four matches against the Heat during the season, with South Okanagan defeating the Tigers 15-11 in their fifth match between the two in early June.
The Tigers will be hosting the TOJLL All-Star game on Saturday, June 24. Hosted at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm, the 7 p.m. game will see the top junior players form the Okanagan compete against one another.
